Dhurandhar – The Revenge: An Engaging Saga
After the storm of Dhurandhar that was unleashed on us in Dec’25, here comes the much-awaited Part 2, Dhurandhar – The Revenge, which created a buzz that I don’t think any Bollywood movie has generated in the recent past. Let us see whether it was worth the wait. Here is my Dhurandhar 2 review.
Dhurandhar – The Revenge starts exactly where Part 1 ended, beginning with how Jaskirat Singh Rangi “Jassi” became Hamza Ali Mazari. The movie encapsulates how Hamza/Jassi creates havoc in the Pakistani underworld and how he accomplishes the mission for which he was sent to Pakistan. Written by Aditya Dhar, with additional screenplay by Ojas Gautam and Shivkumar V. Panicker, Part 2 is pacier. While Part 1 focused more on the underworld of Pakistan, especially Lyari, Part 2 leans more towards an espionage thriller where the lead character, Hamza, operates as a spy executing his mission.
The screenplay is taut and engaging, making the runtime of 229 minutes feel like a breeze. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout, thanks to its twists and turns. What stands out in this movie, just like its predecessor, are its characters, the way they are written, and the arcs they undergo across both parts. Part 2 also brings closure to several characters from Part 1 and introduces new ones to take the story forward. Kudos to Aditya Dhar and his associates, Ojas Gautam and Shivkumar V. Panicker, for crafting such an engaging and standout script.
As a screenplay, the movie starts with a bang, dips slightly in the middle, but regains its pace before the interval with a twist. In the second half, the movie picks up strongly and concludes with a big, twist-filled climax. A word of caution: the action and gruesomeness are doubled in this instalment, so be prepared.
Complementing the amazing screenplay are the performances. This is definitely a Ranveer Singh film through and through. He brings such depth to his character that you are hooked from the word go. Whether it is the vulnerability of Jassi, the cunningness of Hamza, or his brutality in the fight sequences, Ranveer is spot on. This performance will definitely be remembered for a long time.
The next standout performance for me is R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal. While he did not have much to do in Part 1, he truly shines in
Part 2. Sanjay Dutt, as SP Chaudhary Aslam, brings his trademark swag yet again and steals our hearts. Arjun Rampal, as Major Iqbal, is even more menacing in this part and showcases an impressive range, proving that he is an actor to reckon with.
Rakesh Bedi once again warms your heart whenever he appears on screen, providing much-needed comic relief in this otherwise dark espionage thriller. Sara Arjun, as Yalina, has a brief screen presence but shines in every scene. A special mention goes to her confrontation scene with Ranveer, where she showcases her acting range beautifully. The rest of the cast also delivers solid performances.
Just like Part 1, the background score (BGM) by Shashwat Sachdev plays a crucial role in elevating the film. He once again proves his mettle with a powerful score that enhances the overall cinematic experience. Take a bow, Shashwat Sachdev, for the fabulous music.
The cinematography by Vikash Nowlakha is splendid and creates the right impact through its use of colors and framing.
For both parts of Dhurandhar, the real hero is the director, Aditya Dhar. What makes both films special and connects them so deeply with the audience is his conviction in his subject and his writing. You can feel while watching the movie that he has made it exactly the way he envisioned, without compromising on his ideology. People may or may not agree with his political views, but everyone will surely appreciate his craft and the way he makes his films stand out from the clutter. Aditya Dhar is definitely a showman to watch out for, and I will eagerly wait for his next.
I watched the movie in a packed theater and experienced the joy of a true community viewing, with people clapping and cheering at various moments-something that has been missing from recent Bollywood films. This part, like the previous one, is definitely a theatrical watch. So, without any further delay, book your tickets and watch Dhurandhar – The Revenge.
I will go with: 4 Stars
